Fontbonne Holds Literacy Institute for Local Teachers

Fontbonne University is sponsoring a unique comprehensive and in-depth literacy institute, "Teaching Reading - Reading Comprehension Strategies:  Grades 3-10," designed to benefit educators and graduate students, on July 10-14. The keynote speaker for this special event will be Diane Stephens, who has focused her 30-plus career on the subject of reading.

"Fontbonne University believes that all teachers must be teachers of reading.  As such, we are pleased to take the lead in offering this quality staff development opportunity.  While targeted primarily to teachers, the workshop also provides the opportunity for administrators and instructional coordinators to collaborate with faculty in focusing
attention to reading as a core component of all instructional processes.," said Dr. Bill Freeman, Fontbonne's dean of education.

The institute is being marketed throughout the state and in the metro east. It will be held at St. Mary and Country Day School. Various fees and group discounts are available.
