Business Students Nab First in Accounting Competition

A team of four Fontbonne University business students recently won a regional accounting competition. Michael Biermann of Washington, Sarah Buffa of Chesterfield, Karolina Kowalczyk and Kristina Weis of St. Louis took first place at the LEAP (Lead and Enhance--the Accounting Profession) Challenge, sponsored by The Missouri Society of CPAs (MSCPA).

Fontbonne competed against students from Maryville University, Missouri Baptist University and the University of Missouri at St. Louis. The competition is designed to test accounting knowledge and to create a networking community among the accounting programs offered at various universities in the state.

Fontbonne's team will advance to the LEAP Challenge championship to be held this June at the MSCPA Annual Membership Convention at the Lake of the Ozarks. Winning teams from six regional competitions will participate.
