Fontbonne Awards Top Teaching Honors

CM_JamietteMcCulley: Jaimette McCulley

Jaimette A. McCulley, M.S., R.D., of O'Fallon, Ill., received the 2007 Joan Goostree Stevens Excellence in Teaching Award at Fontbonne University. McCulley is assistant professor of nutrition and dietetics at Fontbonne, where she has worked since 1998. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in home economics from Eastern Illinois University.

The board of trustees established an award in 1988 to recognize the outstanding teachers who create Fontbonne's learning environment. In 1994, the family of Joan Goostree Stevens '47 endowed the award, and it was renamed in her honor. Each year, a committee of representatives from the student body, faculty and administration select the nominee who is most deserving of Fontbonne University's highest recognition for teaching.


CM_KathySchwarting: Kathy Schwarting

Kathleen Schwarting, M.S., of University City, received the 2007 Excellence in Teaching Award for Part-Time Faculty at Fontbonne University. Schwarting is a senior lecturer in the Department of Education/Special Education and director of the Career Builders Program at Fontbonne, where she has worked since 1999. She earned her bachelor's in mathematics and Spanish from Wayne State University and a master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
