Fontbonne Professor Honored for Contributions to St. Louis
The Educational Technology Association of St. Louis awarded Fontbonne University Professor Mary Abkemeier, Ph.D., its V. C. McCluer Award for Outstanding Contributions to Instructional Programs.
Named for the former superintendent of the Ferguson-Florissant School District and one of the founders of Cooperating School Districts, the Virgil C. McCluer Award has been awarded annually, since 1965, to a member of the Education Technology Association for outstanding personal contributions to the instructional programs of St. Louis area schools.
“I am honored to receive this award and to be chosen from among so many other deserving educators,” said Abkemeier, a University City resident who has taught at Fontbonne for 31 years and is director of the master’s in computer education program. “Since I am passionate about teaching, to receive an award for my contributions to teaching in the St. Louis area means a lot to me.”
