Fontbonne Showcases New Art Exhibit: Fabrication/Fiction

ST. LOUIS – The Gallery of Art at Fontbonne University will host “Fabrication/Fiction,” an exhibition of the work of artists Benjie Heu, Kristin Powers Nowlin and Chris Wubbena. The exhibition, sponsored by the Regional Arts Commission, runs from Friday, Oct. 2, through Friday, Oct. 30. Fontbonne will host a gallery talk with the artists on Oct. 2 from 5 – 6 p.m., followed by an exhibit opening from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building at Fontbonne, 6800 Wydown Blvd., St. Louis.

The artists each explore various themes and media in their work. Heu expresses a narrative through sculpture, leading his audience through a journey of evolution and development. Nowlin deals with issues of race and gender through a blend of digital and traditional printmaking and fiber techniques. And Wubbena melds physical and cultural history together using an assortment of media, preserving information into layered forms.

“I’m looking forward to welcoming each of these unique artists to Fontbonne,” said Ellen Gouchner, the Fontbonne gallery director.

The Fontbonne Gallery of Art strives to encourage and support the artist and the education of the visual arts in the community through its exhibitions and programs. The Gallery’s hours are: Mon. – Thurs., 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Tues., 9:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Fri., 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; and Sat., 12 – 4 p.m. For more information, call 314-889-1431 or e-mail Karen at
