Griffins Earn #1 Seed in SLIAC Tournament

ST. LOUIS — The Fontbonne University women's softball team has earned the #1 seed in this weekend's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament held at Forestwood Park in Ferguson.

The Griffins earned the #1 seed by winning the SLIAC regular season championship with a 26-8 overall record and a 15-1 SLIAC record.

The Griffins will play #4 seed Greenville College at 5 p.m. on Thursday on field #3. The other game will feature #2 seed Webster University against #3 seed Blackburn College at 5 p.m. on field #4.

The tournament format is double elimination with the remaining games scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m., and Friday at 5 and 7 p.m. Games may also be scheduled for Saturday if necessary.

The winner of the SLIAC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Fontbonne will attempt to defend their SLIAC Tournament championship as they won the event last year as a #2 seed.
