Fontbonne Instructor to Keynote Early Childhood Seminar

Patricia Durkin, a Fontbonne University early childhood instructor, was selected to serve as the keynote speaker for the 28th annual Workshop on Wheels Early Childhood Seminar. Workshop on Wheels is a program of the Missouri Child Care Resource and Referral Network and Southeast Missouri State University, which provides training for parents, teachers and childcare providers. The workshop will take place Saturday, Sept. 17, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., in Dempster Hall at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

Durkin’s presentation will discuss the importance of caregivers in the life of a child.

Durkin is an advocate for the importance of play, and her certifications and training include early childhood development, the American Montessori Society, elementary education and the Reggio Emilia approach, among others. She is the author and illustrator of the children’s book, “Can You Find the ABC’s in YOU?” and its companion sketchbook.
