Professor Selected to Present at Theatre Awards Gala

Dr. Deanna Jent, Fontbonne University theatre professor and creative director of Mustard Seed Theatre, will present an award at the CAPPIES St. Louis Gala, an annual event honoring the students who participate in a critics and awards program for high school theatre in St. Louis. The event takes place Saturday, May 18, at Lindenwood University.

The CAPPIES is a nationwide program through which high school theatre and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews in local newspapers. Now in its ninth season, the St. Louis CAPPIES program includes participants from public and private high schools from St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson Counties.

In addition to her roles as professor and director, Jent is a playwright. During Mustard Seed Theatre's 2011-2012 season, the company produced "Falling," an original play written by Jent, which not only sold out continually and received great critical acclaim, but was optioned for off-Broadway in the fall of 2012.
