Golden Honored with Inaugural Special Service Award

Fontbonne President Dr. Dennis Golden was honored with an inaugural special service award during the World Affairs Council (WAC) of St. Louis’ 23rd Annual Chinese New Year Celebration, Friday, Feb. 7., at the Chase Park Plaza. The award recognized his dedicated years of service to the university and was presented by the president and CEO of the WAC, Deepak Kant Vyas.

Mark Alexander, instructor of management at Fontbonne and a member of the WAC, served as the New Year Celebration’s chair.

The WAC, of which Fontbonne is a member, is an international cultural education nonprofit. Its annual Chinese New Year Celebration raises funds for the council’s free international and cultural programs for students and others. The Feb. 7 event, which celebrated 2014 as the Year of the Horse, also honored the Kirkwood high school students who won the WAC’s “WorldQuest” competition in 2013, as well as Ha Ngo, an International Visitor Leadership Program Gold Star Recipient, for her work with the Center for Education and Empowerment for Women in Vietnam.
