Where am I?

Master of Arts in Theatre

Staying on top of the latest discoveries in your craft is always a good idea. With Fontbonne’s Master of Arts in Theatre, you can cultivate your talents while you explore other areas of interest. Students have five required classes specific to theatre and can then choose five classes from other disciplines, including graphic arts, education, visual arts and business. This is an opportunity you won’t find anywhere else in St. Louis.

The theatre department offers day, evening and weekend classes, so you can maintain your professional and personal commitments while you work toward getting your master’s degree. You can schedule up to three classes per semester around your schedule.

Students in this program will also have the option to work with Fontbonne’s professional in-residence theatre company, Mustard Seed Theatre. You can participate in internships and gain professional, hands-on experience while you earn credit toward your degree.

Why Fontbonne?

Classes are small and focused with day, evening and weekend programs that accommodate the personal needs of each student. Professors are knowledgeable, experienced and committed to your success. Best of all, you’ll study and learn with your peers — at your own pace.

Learn from the Best

Fontbonne Theatre Director and Founder of Mustard Seed Theatre, Deanna Jent, has had many career highlights over the years, but most recently, and perhaps most notably, is the success of her original play, “Falling,” which is based on her own experience as the mother of a son with severe autism. The play caught the attention of St. Louis native and theatre producer Terry Schnuck, who was instrumental in bringing it to New York City, where it played off-Broadway in the fall of 2012.
