Phi Alpha Honor Society

Social Work Honor Society
Chapter Sigma Sigma
 
Description: Fontbonne University's Social Work Department was granted Membership in Phi Alpha Honor Society January 2013 and named Chapter Sigma Sigma.
 
Goal: The goal of the honor society is to acknowledge social work students with exceptional academic achievements and provide group activities that promote the social work profession and education.
 
Application: Membership is granted through the honor society's student leaders and faculty directed application process. Download the Phi Alpha Student Application (doc, 55KB).
 
Meetings: Accepted applicants are informed about meeting times and group activities from the society's student leadership.

Social Work Club

Description: The Social Work Club is organized by social work students and is open to all students interested in social work. Students elect officers, approve changes to the by-laws, and decide on their annual program or activities.
 
Goal: The goal of the Social Work Club is to join students interested in the profession  in an organization that will provide support for members as a group, and provide services to the community and to the student body.
 
Meetings: The group meets monthly. Meeting times and locations are posted  on the social work bulletin board on the first floor of Ryan Hall.
 
Major Activities: Speakers, visits to social service agencies and job fairs, community service activities such as helping with food banks, housing services, social work policy agendas, drug and alcohol prevention programs, and social events such as barbecues or picnics are among the activities.
