2012-2013 Costs & Tuition

International students must show financial support for tuition and living expenses costs for one year of study in the form of an original bank statement no older than 120 days, and corresponding letter of financial guarantee if the student is not the account holder or sponsor. All documents must be original and in English.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Fontbonne University offers merit-based scholarships to a number of academically talented undergraduate (bachelor’s degree) international applicants. The scholarships are awarded to both new students coming into the United States and transfer students already in the United States. All scholarships are awarded to students who hold non-immigrant, F-1 student visas. The award amount is applied to the student’s account in two equal installments in the fall and spring semesters and goes toward reducing tuition charges. Awards are renewable each year, but students must maintain the minimum grade point average stated on the award contract as well as F-1 visa status.

First-Time Freshman Scholarships 

INTERNATIONAL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP - $1,000 per year

Students eligible for this scholarship must be attending a Catholic High School in their home country and enrolling as a first-time freshman at Fontbonne University. The non-merit based, renewable scholarship is automatically awarded to all eligible students. Students must maintain at 3.0 GPA at Fontbonne University for automatic renewal and is renewable for up to 8 semesters. Proof of attendance at a Catholic high school is required and must be validated by the Office of International Affairs. Requirements: 3.0 GPA(on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent; graduate of a Catholic High School; first-time freshman. This scholarship may be combined with one of the following (4) scholarship levels for first-time freshman.

INTERNATIONAL LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP – up to $12,000 per year

Students eligible for this scholarship must meet the following criteria: Enrolling as a first-time freshman at Fontbonne University; cumulative high school GPA of a 3.8 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent); 525/197/71 pbt/cbt/ibt TOEFL (6.0 IELTS); completion of the undergraduate scholarship application; two letters of recommendation; completion of a scholarship essay which addresses the following questions: Why have you selected Fontbonne University and your major? Briefly describe your leadership and extracurricular experiences? Please describe your future career goals. This scholarship is renewable for up to 8 semesters, provided the student maintains a 3.8 GPA at Fontbonne University.

INTERNATIONAL DEAN’S SCHOLARSHIP - up to $9,000 per year

Students eligible for this scholarship must meet the following criteria: Enrolling as a first-time freshman at Fontbonne University; cumulative high school GPA of a 3.6 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent), 525/197/71 pbt/cbt/ibt TOEFL (6.0 IELTS), completion of the undergraduate scholarship application; two letters of recommendation; completion of a scholarship essay which addresses the following questions: Why have you selected Fontbonne University and your major? Briefly describe your leadership and extracurricular experiences. Please describe your future career goals.  This scholarship is renewable for up to 8 semesters, provided the student maintains a 3.6 GPA at Fontbonne University. 

INTERNATIONAL FOUNDER’S SCHOLARSHIP – up to $7,000 per year

Students eligible for this scholarship must meet the following criteria: Enrolling as a first-time freshman at Fontbonne University; cumulative high school GPA of a 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent), 500/173/61 pbt/cbt/ibt TOEFL (5.0 IELTS), completion of the undergraduate scholarship application; two letters of recommendation; completion of a scholarship essay which addresses the following questions: Why have you selected Fontbonne University and your major? Briefly describe your leadership and extracurricular experiences. Please describe your future career goals. This scholarship is renewable for up to 8 semesters, provided the student maintains a 3.2 GPA at Fontbonne University.

INTERNATIONAL FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIP – up to $6,000 per year

Students eligible for this scholarship must meet the following criteria: Enrolling as a first-time freshman at Fontbonne University; cumulative high school GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent), 500/173/61 pbt/cbt/ibt TOEFL (5.0 IELTS), completion of the undergraduate scholarship application; two letters of recommendation; completion of a scholarship essay which addresses the following questions: Why have you selected Fontbonne University and your major? Briefly describe your leadership and extracurricular experiences. Please describe your future career goals. This scholarship is renewable for up to 8 semesters, provided the student maintains a 3.0 GPA at Fontbonne University.

Transfer Student Scholarships

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP - up to $5,500 per year

Students eligible for this scholarship must meet the following criteria: Transfer from a four-year university or community college(or equivalent), 500/173/61 pbt/cbt/ibt TOEFL (5.0 IELTS), cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale (or equivalent); completion of the undergraduate international scholarship application; two letters of recommendation; completion of a scholarship essay which addresses the following questions: Why have you selected Fontbonne University and your major? Briefly describe your leadership and extracurricular experiences? Please describe your future career goals. This scholarship is renewable for up to 4 semesters, provided the student maintains a 3.0 GPA at Fontbonne University. Scholarship awards may only be applied to fall and spring semesters. The student must also maintain full time academic status (a minimum of 12 academic credits) in fall and spring semesters.


Applying for Scholarships

To apply for an international scholarship, you must submit a Fontbonne application for International Undergraduate Admission as a full-time student (12-18 credit hours per semester). After students are accepted to the university and awarded a scholarship, notification will be mailed to each student. Scholarships do not apply for summer semesters. When applying please indicate the scholarship(s) for which you are applying.
