Scholarship Opportunities for Transfer Students

Applying for Scholarships

To apply for scholarships you must submit a Fontbonne application for admission as a full-time student (12-18 credit hours) and must be working on their first undergraduate degree to be eligible for scholarship consideration. Once students have been accepted to the university and awarded scholarship, notification in writing will be mailed to each student.

Transfer Scholarships

Phi Theta Kappa/Honors Scholarship

For transfers from two-year colleges: Must be members of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and have a blended cumulative GPA of 3.2. Up to $8,500 awarded per academic year.

For transfers from four-year institutions: Must have a blended, cumulative GPA of 3.5. 

Transfer Scholarship

Students eligible must meet the following criteria: transferred from a 4-year or community college into Fontbonne University, demonstrated academic success and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Up to $6,500 awarded per academic year.

Transfer Griffin Award

Awarded to a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5-2.99. Up to $3,000 is awarded.

Alumni, College, Dean's or Founders Scholarships

Transfer students who have completed fewer than 30 semester hours of college credit may be eligible for one of the freshman merit-based scholarships. Consideration for these scholarships will be based on cumulative grade point averages calculated on both high school and transfer credits, as well as ACT or SAT scores. Scholarship amounts may vary.

Midwest Student Exchange Program

  • Criteria: Student must enroll as a non-resident and must be a resident of Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota or Wisconsin.
  • Up to 10% tuition reduction for 4 years.

Talent Scholarships

Students applying for talent scholarships must major in one of these areas to be eligible for the scholarship. All talent scholarships range up to $2,000 per academic year, provided you remain in that major and meet specified GPA requirements for the scholarship offered. All materials for the Talent Scholarships must be received by March 1, 2016 for a student to be considered for the scholarship.

Art Scholarship

  • Requirements: Submission of a portfolio consisting of approximately 12 pieces (submitted electronically) that you feel demonstrate your ability and potential to be reviewed by art faculty members.
  • Award amount: up to $2,000 per academic year.

Performing Arts Scholarship (Scholarships are available for performance and technical theatre.)

  • Requirements: Performance audition of a 3-5 minute scene or monologue that is memorized and contains movement OR technical theatre students must provide pictures from productions on which you’ve worked.
  • Award amount: up to $2,000 per academic year.

English/Writing Scholarships

  • Requirements:
    • One or two letters of recommendation from an English teacher
    • Example of expository writing or literary analysis
    • Creative work (1-2 short stories and your choice of 4-5 poems or a section of a play)
  • Award amount: up to $2,000 per academic year.

STEM* Scholarship

  • Requirements: Coursework in math and/or science that demonstrates a strong academic record, one letter of recommendation from a math or science teacher who can assess your academic ability and an interview with Fontbonne faculty (that will be set up by the Admission Office).
  • Award amount: up to $2,000 per academic year.
