Bachelor of Social Work Program Receives Accreditation

Fontbonne University’s Bachelor of Social Work program has received accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education, Commission on Accreditation. Official as of June 20, 2013, the program began the accreditation process in the fall of 2010. After completing four benchmarks, one each year, the program completed the self-study necessary to achieve accreditation. All Fontbonne BSW students will be grandfathered into the accredited program.

Sharon Jackson is Fontbonne’s BSW program director. Dr. Kate Mennes is the program’s field education director.

According to its website, the Council on Social Work Education “is a nonprofit national association representing more than 2,500 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education. Founded in 1952, this partnership of educational and professional institutions, social welfare agencies, and private citizens is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for social work education in this country.”
