The 2017 total solar eclipse takes place on the first day of fall classes, and at Fontbonne University, that’s cause for celebration. It will be nearly another 500 years before St. Louis views another.

Monday, Aug. 21
Timing: The partial eclipse will begin at approximately 11:50 a.m., with the total eclipse taking place around 1:15 p.m. Our location in Clayton will have about 19 seconds in the path of totality.
Where
On Monday, grab your ISO-approved glasses at the Welcome Table outside the Taylor Library or in the Fontbonne bookstore on the first floor of Ryan Hall.
Who
– Students: classes are being held as scheduled Monday, but your instructors have been encouraged to allow viewing of the total eclipse and will most likely be in touch before class or post notices on classroom doors to communicate viewing plans.
– Staff & Faculty: in general, all are encouraged to enjoy this event as feasible. Check with your supervisor or department head for any restrictions on leaving the office.
