Fontbonne University awards transfer credit for courses that are considered college-level work from accredited, degree-granting institutions of higher learning.

Remedial courses, typically those numbered below 100, such as Math 013, do not usually qualify as transfer credit. D grades are accepted for courses meeting general education requirements and electives, though major courses require a grade of C- or higher.
A maximum of 64 hours can be transferred from two-year institutions, though there is no limit on the number of credits transferred from four-year institutions. All students must meet Fontbonne’s residency requirements to earn their Fontbonne degree:
Students who complete Missouri’s 42-semester-hour block general education program and those who graduate with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Arts in Teaching degree at a Missouri community college will be exempt from Fontbonne’s general education requirements, except any general education course specifically required for the student’s chosen major.
Students who complete the Illinois Articulation Initiative requirements and those who graduate with an Associate in Arts, Associate in Arts in Teaching or Associate in Science degree at an Illinois community college will be exempt from Fontbonne’s general education requirements, except any general education course specifically required for the student’s chosen major.
At the time of admission, a student will receive an evaluation of credit that tentatively outlines how their previously earned college credit will apply towards the degree they intend to pursue. It will also tentatively outline what courses and how many credits a student has left to complete a degree in their chosen major at Fontbonne University.

Transfer agreements are designed as a tool to assist you with course recommendations; however you are highly encouraged to work with your transfer counselor as well as an advisor at your community college to ensure you are on track to completing the necessary requirements for your associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree.
