Master of Arts in Deaf Education

Prepare for success with this unique learning program

Pursue a specialized Master of Arts in Deaf Education that prepares you to serve children who are deaf/hard of hearing in inclusive educational settings.

This graduate program was developed in collaboration with the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech, which has schools in Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Northampton, Massachusetts; CREC/Soundbridge in Connecticut; and the Hearing Impaired Program (HIP) in Bergen County, NJ. Students who live in or near these cities can benefit from this hybrid model featuring Fontbonne coursework and field experience at each of these locations.

The Master of Arts in Deaf Education is accredited by the Council of Education of the Deaf (CED).CED conducts a nationally recognized process for the accreditation of post-secondary programs which train teachers of deaf and hard of hearing students. The CED Accreditation program is built upon the core competencies in special education set forth by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and also has standards specifically for teachers of deaf and hard of hearing students. As Fontbonne is a CED certified program, our graduates are eligible for CED individual Certification which represents the highest standard for teachers of deaf and hard of hearing students.
