Armed with a master’s in supply chain management from Fontbonne University, graduates are prepared for Fontbonne supply chain alum Brandon Grissomsuccess in companies of all sizes, from local businesses to global giants.

Supply chain managers are responsible for any or all of the steps required to plan and execute a product’s flow, from purchasing raw materials and production through distribution to customers.

Maximizing efficiency is usually a major goal to help a company reduce costs and gain a competitive advantage.

In 2016, Fontbonne’s program was recognized by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine as one of the top 35 in the field. It was also named a 2018 Top Online College for Master’s in Supply Chain Management by SR Education Group.

Courses are taught by faculty with real-world experiences and are offered in an eight- week online format. The curriculum focuses on strategies to create collaboration among the supply chain partners that will develop greater value, quality, efficiency and reduced costs throughout the organization.

A degree in supply chain management opens up a world of job opportunities. According to the United States Department of Labor, jobs in the field will increase steadily over the next decade. Below, we catch up with one recent grad, Brandon Grissom, who earned his master’s in supply chain management in 2018.

Fontbonne: What are you doing now?

Brandon: I worked in hospitality for a number of years before going back to school to change careers. After completing my master’s in 2018, I was promoted to Senior Supply Chain Manager for a telecom company based in Frisco, Texas. I handle the end-to-end supply chain for the Western U.S. including eight markets and over $200 million in spend and inventory.

Fontbonne: Did the program prepare you for your career?

Brandon: Absolutely. To this day, I still refer back to some of my notes from my classes. The knowledge I gained during my studies gave me the confidence to walk into any meeting and feel prepared to speak knowledgably about any supply chain function that might come up.

Fontbonne: What was positive about your experience earning your supply chain management degree?

Brandon: I appreciated the amount of care the faculty, from my counselors to professors, showed in ensuring my education was a success. Each faculty member showed a passion for the school and for education that allowed me to make the most of the supply chain program. Everyone I interacted with at Fontbonne has been exceptional and representative of the core values of the institution.
