Fontbonne University welcomed 90 students from University City, Ritenour, Normandy and Vashon high schools for the Pearl Club’s second annual Young Women’s Empowerment Conference on October 21. Organized to inspire young women to rise financially, mentally and physically, the event helped participants build the skills needed to reach their full potential.
The conference included workshops about accumulating wealth, cultivating a “rise and uplift” mindset, creating a healthy lifestyle, developing negotiation and interviewing skills, and using networking to build relationships. During the event, participants also received a copy of Robert Kiyosaki’s best-seller Rich Dad, Poor Dad, which emphasizes the importance of financial literacy.
Additionally, Dr. Sharonica Hardin-Bartley, the superintendent of University City Schools who also serves on the boards of Alive and Well Communities, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Community Action Agency of St. Louis, was the conference’s keynote speaker.
