Understand the principles of human nutrition

The B.S. in Nutritional Sciences curriculum is designed to provide students with a strong background in nutrition, food, biological sciences, and research. Graduates are well prepared to enter careers in health and nutrition-related research, community nutrition, or to continue in graduate-level studies. 

Students planning to pursue the master’s coordinated program in nutrition and dietetics (CP) should follow the B.S. in Dietetics curriculum. 

Program Highlights

  • Nutritional Science majors work closely with full-time faculty throughout all four years of the program in order to tailor the program to best support your unique strengths and interests.
  • In the program, students will learn to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of human nutrition and metabolism.  
  • Students will get a chance to utilize evidence-based knowledge to explain the connection between human health and nutrition. 
  • You will have an opportunity to present a research-based project focused on a topic of interest within the realm of human nutrition.

Note that most positions involving the use of medical nutrition therapy and specialized nutrition counseling services require a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) credential. Students interested in these career paths should pursue the Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics.
