Applied Mathematics majors have a choice of one of the following application areas: accounting, biology, business, chemistry, computer science, cybersecurity, data analytics, education, general science, psychology, or web development and design. Our small class sizes, open-door policy for students, and easy access to resources help ensure that you get the most out of your time here.
At Fontbonne, you work closely with faculty members who serve as both teachers and mentors. We infuse technology into our mathematics courses, giving you the edge you need for graduate school or the professional world. Employers are actively seeking people who can understand and apply mathematics; if you can provide them with that background, they will eagerly train you to do what they need.
Your applied mathematics major can be tailored to an existing interest or serve as a foundation for continued studies in a wide range of industries and technologies.
Data Analytics applies fundamental scientific principles to the analysis of large, complex data sets. This minor will interest students with an aptitude in computer science, mathematics, and especially statistics. The minor complements computer science, bioinformatics, cybersecurity and management information systems studies and is particularly suited to be an application area for students majoring in applied mathematics.
Applied Mathematics majors have recently interned at several area companies, including: Anheuser Busch, Boeing, Emerson, Enterprise, Equifax Workforce Solutions, Maritz Corporation, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Nestle Purina, Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), and REJIS Commission.
