Fontbonne University will cohost “Crafting our Cultures,” a special celebration of Bosnian craft traditions, history and culture.
The event will take place on Sat., Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. in Anheuser-Busch Hall on Fontbonne’s campus. Admission is free, but a reservation is required.
“Crafting our Cultures” will feature a Bosnian cooking workshop, panel discussion and exhibition reception.
The cooking workshop will be led by women from the Bosnian community in St. Louis, and will feature a variety of traditional Bosnian foods. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Missouri Botanical Garden.
The panel discussion will explore a variety of Bosnian cultural traditions and their importance to Bosnian identity. Dr. Ben Moore, associate professor of English and director of the Bosnia Memory Project at Fontbonne, will serve as moderator.
The exhibition, designed by students in Fontbonne’s fashion merchandising program, showcases Bosnian crafts in textiles, metals and wood. Many members of the Bosnian Community in St. Louis have contributed handcrafted objects from their homes for the display.
