Dr. Deborah Phelps, Fontbonne University professor of sociology, appeared on St. Louis Public Radio this week to discuss her memoir, “Frank’s Arms – Stories and Lessons From a Caregiver and Patient Advocate.”
Phelps cared for her husband for seven years after he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Her memoir offers advice, insight and personal experience, telling their story from her perspective as both a spouse and a sociologist. She was accompanied on the program “St. Louis on the Air” by Jamie Sentnor, a licensed clinical social worker and grief counselor.
