Break Information

Spring Break 2014

  • ANYONE requesting to stay in the halls over the break must sign up online by 4:00 pm on Wednesday March 12.
  • Cost to stay on campus is $25 per night for St. Joseph and Medaille residents. Your stay will be charged to your student account. Pay in the Business Office.

  • If you are: International resident students, athletes in current season, student teachers, or work at an    University-sponsored internships, Southwest and Cotta residents, there is no charge.
  • NO building access-all access cards are disabled over the break. You must request to stay for the cards to work. Sign up by the deadline. RA’s and Public Safety can not give you access if you forget.
  • Access is only given for the hall you live in. Access cards are only valid for the day (s) for which you sign up. Your card will be disabled for all other days of the break.
  • There is NO MEAL PLAN SERVICE on campus during this break. Dinner on Friday, March 14 is the last meal served before Spring Break . Meal Plans resume with dinner on  Sunday, March 23.
  • There is a penalty and fine associated with staying on campus without signing up. Your student account will be charged $75 in addition to the number of days you stay on campus. You may be told to leave the premises by either the RA or Public Safety. Charges stand even if you are asked to leave.
  • Halls close on Saturday, March 15 @ noon

  • Halls re-open on Sunday, March 23 @ noon


 Special Points to know:

  • If you have a Maintenance Emergency in your room or hall, call Public Safety for assistance at 314-889-4596.
  • Before you leave for break, remove all trash from your room. Close windows & blinds and turn off all lights. Don’t forget to lock your door!
  • All university offices will be closed on Wednesday, March 19 for St. Joseph Day.
  • If you borrowed an access card or key this semester, NOW is the time to return them before you go on break. The temporary card will be turned off. Your student account is charged $30 for a lock change or $30 access card replacement on campus. A lock change at Cotta Hall off campus is $100.

• RESIDENCE HALLS CLOSED - Saturday, March 15 at 12 noon to March 23 at 12 noon. • All residents staying over the holiday must request to stay.

• If you stay without signing up penalties are assessed directly to your student account, $75.00 plus $25 per night. This charge is not negotiable.

• ALL access cards are disabled over the break unless you sign up. Access is granted for the hall you live in ONLY.

• No FOOD SERVICE on campus during the break. Last meal served before the halls close is dinner on Friday, March 14. Griffin Grill opens on Saturday at 4 pm - 10 pm. Regular dining hours resume on Sunday, March 23 for dinner.

• International residents, residents in Southwest/Cotta Halls, resident athletes in current season only, residents involved in approved university sponsored activities including practicums, internships and student teachers do not pay to stay. However, you MUST sign up.

• The cost to stay is $25.00 per night. If you are working or doing work study, a Medaille/St. Joseph resident or have no other living arrangements. Your student account is charged.

Payments to your student account must be made in the Business Office in Ryan Hall. Charges are approved and changed at the discretion of the Department of Residential Life.

Complete and submit the Break Housing Request. This signifies that you agree to the terms and conditions of the break housing request contract. The submission acts as your electronic signature.
